t r u t h o u t - William Rivers Pitt | Two Loud Words: " George W. Bush is going to run in 2004 on the idea that his administration is the only one capable of protecting us from another attack like the ones which took place on September 11. Yet the record to date is clear. Not only did they fail in spectacular fashion to deal with those first threats, not only has their reaction caused us to be less safe, not only have they failed to sufficiently bolster our defenses, but they used the aftermath of the attacks to ram through policies they couldn't have dreamed of achieving on September 10. It is one of the most remarkable turnabouts in American political history: Never before has an administration used so grisly a personal failure to such excellent effect.
Never mind the final insult: They received all these warnings and went on vacation for a month down in Texas. The August 6 briefing might as well have happened in a vacuum. September 11 could have and should have been prevented. Why? Because Bush knew."
Yahoo! News - Bush Says U.S. Economy 'Very Strong': "President Bush, speaking after a report showing an unexpectedly small gain of 1,000 U.S. non-farm jobs in December, said on Friday all signs pointed to strength in the U.S. economy." Remember, this is the load that lost money and/or bankrupted every company he ever managed. Some CEO!
Yahoo! News - Former Treasury Sec. Paints Bush as 'Blind Man' He's 'Chauncey Gardner,' only not nice. Time to go watch "Being There."

TOMPAINE.com - Intoxicated With Power "But U.S. media dropped Jessica Lynch as soon as it became clear that she was not going to cooperate with Pentagon yarn spinners. Good for Private Lynch. This young woman from rural West Virginia knows the difference between the truth and a lie.

If only that were so in the case of our president, who asks, without a trace of shame, "What's the difference?"—the question this time being the difference between whether Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction last year or not; i. e., whether the ostensible justification for attacking Iraq was real or was manufactured out of whole cloth."

What's the difference? I believe most Americans can see the difference.

Army stops many from quitting, 29 Dec 03: "On their Army paychecks, the expiration date of their military service is now listed sometime after 2030 -- the payroll computer's way of saying, 'Who knows?'" This is a helluva way to 'Support the Troops.'

Some words better left unuttered: "In an interview on Dec. 16, television anchorwoman Diane Sawyer pressed Bush on the fact that no unconventional weapons had been found in Iraq some nine months after the search had begun.
Bush kept interjecting: 'Yet.'
Sawyer persisted, asking about the administration's flat statements that Saddam had such weapons versus the mere possibility that he could acquire them.
An exasperated Bush replied: 'So, what's the difference?'" What's the difference? He honestly DOES NOT GET IT! He is just that dumb.
Last generation grasped commitment - The Register-Guard, Eugene, Oregon, USA: "For that generation, paying taxes was part of being patriotic - not that anyone liked it, any more than they liked going to war. They cared about what was 'good for the country,' and paying taxes was just one of the things you did for your country and community." It's true. We've become a nation of selfish spoiled brats, interested only in immediate gratification. The "greatest generation" would be ashamed of us today.
Bush in 30 Seconds The first two are pretty good, not to mention disturbing.

US soldiers in Iraq asked to pray for Bush. 30/3/2003. ABC News Online WTF???...This sounds backward! Jesus!
The Smirking Chimp: "White House Claim: 'President Bush's economic leadership is producing positive results.'
Fact: 'More than 2.2 million jobs have been lost since Bush took office. Bush is still on pace to be the first president since Herbert Hoover to have a net job loss over his four year term.'" Anyone who has done any research into Dubya's 'economic leadership' background knows that his business career is nothing but a string of failed companies and bankruptcies.
